THE DELPHI RESULTS

The priorities

A technique to explore stakeholder policy priorities for selected applications

in synthetic biology

The most important insights from the Delphi are reported in the following paragraphs. The Delphi results "measure" the policy priorities identified by the stakeholders participating in the survey. In general, respondents strongly agreed (showing an high level of convergence) on the magnitude of the costs and benefits of synthetic biology, as well as on the governance and regulatory tools more appropriate to govern them. The following list is a measure of the importance of policy issues (measured by the mean values [M], ranging from 1 to 10) and of the extent to which stakeholders agree on them (measured by standard deviation [SD], the higher the standard deviation, the lower the agreement). The full results of the Delphi and the questionnaires are available here.
